An organization, no matter how "technologically transformed," is at the end of the day no more/no less than: PEOPLE SERVING PEOPLE. (And as leader, your job is: SERVE THE PEOPLE WHO SERVE THE PEOPLE.) (One last thing: the people we serve are our Customers AND our Communities.)
"Speed is everything in 2018" total bullshit:
Relationships take time.
Recruiting allies to your cause takes time.
Reading/studying take time.
Practice & prep take time.
MBWA takes time.
Thoughtfulness/small gestures take time.
"The last 10%" takes time.
EXCELLENCE takes time.
"You have to learn this because it's a standard"
or
"You need to know this for the test"
has inspired a grand total of zero students. The "why" must be very apparent before you get buy-in from students. #teachergoals
"The day thou gavest" started as "the dawn from on high broke upon us" and draws to a close as "the darkness falls at thy behest." Blessed be the name of the Lord.
What a day! I breathed and whistled and sang and spoke and listened and prayed and laughed and cried and wrote and cursed and ate and drank....I am alive. What a day!
