@CatholicSmark Even before I became Catholic I learned to play "find the tabernacle" in modern RC churches... Are there real people out there who thought this was an issue? If you find the tabernacle distracting, is Jesus really the one with the problem? (yes, that's a modesty culture analogy)

@jdflynn @mitch_is_tired @CatholicSmark Yes. But the American territorial parish is already inextricable from the American ideal of self-selected enclaves. The fact that territorial parishes leave people out is why personal parishes exist in the first place.

@jdflynn @CatholicSmark Can 515 seems pretty clear, as does 518 on territorial vs personal parishes. What's not clear is why the territorial nature of (most) parishes should bind the faithful when it is not obviously for the health of souls.

@jdflynn @CatholicSmark Except personal parishes, the Ordinariate, etc. I live in a tiny borough that used to have three ethnic parishes. I love the ideal of the territorial parish like I love the ideal of living in 13th century England; the fact that it's law doesn't make it real.
