The ice chapel was great and an example of how ND is a place where students live their faith. It’s also a place where they appoint a nastily a pro-choice administrator, where admissions clearly tries to evade federal antidiscrimination law, and the Main Building consistently pressures the law school to change from the best center-right law school in the country to the 25th best liberal one. It’s a problem that’s been going on for so long that it’s essentially a campus tradition.

Fr. Dowd has a chance to show bold leadership here by abandoning the administrative conventional wisdom he inherited and by following the example of his students and brother CSCs whose creativity turned an ice storm into a Catholic witness.
