"British farming is at the heart of British trade & we put agriculture at the forefront of any deals we negotiate, prioritising new export opportunities & protecting UK food standards.”
When govt betrays you then lies about it, people get angry.

This is devastating news for a very good fellow Scottish grower. The industry is currently going through extremely difficult times with a serious lack of retailers support. Wage inflation of over 25% in 3 years with no increase in grower returns is unsustainable
30,000+ followers in just 5 days since opening this account to campaign for our farmers. The response has been extraordinary. Support our farmers. When you eat today, thank a farmer. 🚜
Our farms.
Your food.

Low-welfare eggs flooding into 🇬🇧
#Brexit will see even more imported.
😯 B’tween 2021 & Aug 2023 egg imports from Poland rose by 2,000%, from 46 consignments to 1,095.
😯 Italian imports also 🆙 by almost 300% 2022 - 2023 from 72 consignments to 279

I believe our shops should never be empty of any food produced in Britain. That’s why I’ve added my name to the #BackBritishFarming food security campaign.

@trussliz These deals do mark a new era for Britain as an idiotic, self-harming trading nation and they wouldn’t have been necessary either if we were still in the EU, where we’d also have had a much better chance of standing up to authoritarians than we do now pissing around on our own.
@DGWilkinson That's headline grabbing and a compliant media will suck it up. Who will investigate deeply which businesses in the food chain are making big money and which is being screwed. If prices are capped, watch retailers go to producers and "ask" for "help", i.e. take lower prices!
@DGWilkinson You couldn’t make this up!
Price cap.
So Supermarkets will reduce producer payments.
Producers pull out / reduce output.
Empty shelves.
More imports.
It’s basically what the egg industry has been going through in the last 18 months, and the government has now put a cherry on top!
Basically, despite all that 5-a-day/eat more fruit and veg bilge it spouts, UK government has no intention of supporting growers to produce said fruit and veg.

Ladies if you ever miss your train & cannot get back home don’t try to check into @HiltonHotels I was told there was a room but after I had no photo ID this happened. Always be prepared to tell men (even strangers) where you have been & why you are out at 1am.
UK retailers respond to failure in supply chain management by importing eggs from Italy bravo well done, I hope you are proud @the_brc
UK supply chain’s being decimated by retailers, UK government asleep on the job. Offshoring food production doesn’t offshore it’s CO2 emissions
I don’t blame Brexit but I do blame this gov @theresecoffey
We cannot simply offshore our food production which you are trying to do #greenwash
Get a grip!
Are we eating seasonally #turnipgate or are we exploiting #supplychain and exporting our industry ? 🤔
