Kind of cumbersome to my psyche that bridges over highways usually have a sign with their height... like if your car is taller than 11.5’ and then you see the sign isn’t it like, too late to turn around?
@SharpFootball Thanks Warren! Have you thought about making an adjustment for home vs away? Might also adjust for travel, time of day, rest, etc for this plot which aims (I think) to show difficulty over the course of the season
@JohnRuf6 Right. I think I’m just wondering about this definition of leisure. Maybe some people use leisure activities to de-stress, and maybe that contributes to their preferences
@JohnRuf6 Sure, I agree people can have preferences on different activities. But if you asked the same person “is petting a cat” or “burning my dinner” more leisurely, maybe they would have an answer as it relates to de-stressing themselves and therefore is more or less useful
Speculating that AI companies are “dumping” in the labor market- offering heavily subsidized use of models so that firms switch workflows to AI (accomplishing their stated goal of 90% replacement) before raising prices and earning monopoly rents @ChrisCoons@SenLBR
@JustinWolfers I think I disagree with this take- if you are trying to balance credibility + staying on Trump’s good side, this seems like a way to earn points with Trump which you might use on monetary policy decisions?
Really interesting NBER working paper "Climbing the energy ladder: how energy resources hinder, facilitate and fuel economic growth" by Derek Lemoine predicts higher growth under solar as compared to coal / oil even w/o considering emissions
You should be able to get some reward for being a good airline passenger, handed out by flight attendants. Like $20 towards your next flight… would encourage good behavior and nudge customers on the margin to fly again @Delta@AmericanAir@united
If your flight took twice as long but costed half as much and you had twice as much space to move around in, would you prefer it to your original flight?
I’m imagining a market where suppliers of electricity (houses connected to grid) meets demand for electricity (EVs parked on the street) and an app to connect these two. Would expand overall charging infrastructure and give passive income to households in urban areas
@JomauxJulien Thanks for this thread! Can you explain this point a bit more? Would you still expect areas with higher share of renewable energy to have a lower average price of electricity? Or does the peak hours pricing driven by gas mean the prices are all the same regardless of RE share?
I’m imagining interacting with something that looks like ChatGPT, asking it what the odds would be for a bet (say, a Super Bowl matchup for 2025) and then an option to bet or not. Am I way off or is this possible? @FDSportsbook@ESPNBet@DKSportsbook@OpenAI
I feel like it would be pretty straightforward to combine chatgpt api and (I assume gambling odds are created via a combination of models + market data) that sports betting sites could create “custom on demand” bets via a chatbot
