Been thinking abt ethics lately: If you are kidnapped and 10^100 shrimp are surgically attached to you who all have an ailment from which they will recover in 9 months if you leave them attached, and will otherwise die, do you have the moral obligation to leave the shrimp on you?
"Topological quantum computer" sounds like a concept made up by an uninformed sci-fi writer shoving jargon together but is somehow actually a serious thing
I've not made up my mind about AI (I think it's a net-negative currently but has the potential to be good or very bad in the future, I also don't like that it's in the hands of capitalists) but taken in full generality I am on the whole unabashedly a tech optimist!
I really don't like how "tech optimism" has just become synonymous with views on AI. I mean AI is important right now, but like here are like a billion technologies to be optimistic about, and AI only describes a handful!!
1.5% of global electricity use btw. I can't believe there are actually adults who can vote who believe this shit. Obviously data centers will have more of a climate impact in the coming years, and that's not good, but this is just alarmism and misinfo
@swaroop7six@IndianGems_ Global warming is caused by greenhouse gas emissions trapping more heat from the sun, not waste heat from industrial processes. Is this bait or something?
