John went to the hospital Sunday morning feeling sick. He was given a respirator. Monday morning, he was moved to the ICU, where two liters of fluid was removed from his lungs. Despite this, his breathing did not improve.

About 4am, John made the decision to reject further medical escalation, and requested the respirator be removed. He passed away shortly afterwards.

He gave it hell until the very end, and died with dignity on his own terms, not the cancer's.

Rest in power, John.
