@GCGolfToday Also, it's just not true they did their best effort to play at least 18. We had to sit in our hotel rooms Monday and Tuesday afternoon when it was sunny and even more PLAYABLE than Wednesday. If they followed their "manual", we should've at least tried to play 9 both days.
@GCGolfToday I'm sorry to say this but this is just lies. This lady wasn't even there. She mentions the water the course had to absorb before the teams arrived. What water?? The greens especially were COMPLETELY dry during the practice round. On the contrary, the rain made them better!
@ForePlayPod There was no rain yesterday and on Monday and Tuesday afternoon it was sunny and perfect to play golf, yet we had to sit in our hotel room not even allowed to practice! No maintenance on the course. My coaches went to walk the course and it was definitely playable both days.
@ForePlayPod Honestly this was the saddest day of my golf career. Still can’t believe what happened. The lack of communication from their side was terrible, they made us wait for two hours yesterday with no explanation, hiding behind security so that no one could talk to them.
This is absolutely atrocious @ncaa. Seniors’ college careers ended just like that. These poor girls have dedicated their lives for this moment to be told they can’t play a playable course just because it’s not “championship” level?!
Colossal mess at the Baton Rouge regional with the NCAA canceling the event (heavy rain) and automatically sending the top 6 seeds to nationals:
"But you just said it was playable …"
"We can play!"
"Are you serious?"
"You should be ashamed of yourselves!"
@Jovin_0829@golfweek They were hiding behind security!! Literally we were allowed only to enter the locker room in the club house, other parts were protected by the security people.
@golfweek Today, there was no rain at all. We were supposed to play at 10am. They made us wait for two hours with no explanation, as if they were waiting for more rain to come and justify the decision they wanted to make. Heartbreaking and very exhausting day
@golfweek The worst thing is that on Monday and Tuesday afternoon the weather was perfect for golf, no water on the greens, just in a few fairways and bunkers. We’ve been playing golf our entire lives, we can deal with that lol
@golfweek Key word in this statement is “playable”. If a course is playable u play, doesn’t matter if it is “championship” conditions or not. All players are dealing with the same conditions so it’s a level playing field and can still determine who the deserving advancers are.
There’s a lot I could say on this but @NCAA you failed these kids... Be creative, be willing to adapt, and most importantly let their play decide who plays for a National Championship! Proud of @UHCougarWGolf, they will be back!!!
So here it is, the LSU regionals at Baton Rouge has been cancelled due to the course being “PLAYABLE BUT NOT AT A CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL”!!!!! Disgraceful how this whole week has been handled!!!! Every player worked so hard for this week and this is how we are treated!!! SHAMEFUL!!!
