New seedlings are also coming up nicely. Pics are 6 days after seeding. The starter fertilizer we have used the last couple years is a game changer and will post follow up pics.
Checked out a customers sod fields today and they couldn’t be happier. The spring seeding fields have completely filled in after having standing water in low spots from heavy rains/flooding this spring. Lost a bit of pre-emergent and looked rough for a bit.

Timothy is another seed, grown for crops (other crop on the tag), that has very similar seed size to bluegrass. It is also a perennial with no selective control. The seed supplier out of Nebraska said this it was birds that brought in the seed.
Sharing slides from a presentation I have given on purchasing quality grass seed with photos that I have taken myself over the years. These are pictures from a sod farm that purchased 'Gold Tag' bluegrass seed from another supplier. Back to back years with contaminants.
The photo on the right was the after the sod grower sprayed roundup and started over, with seed from the same supplier. Gold tag bluegrass again. This time it looked even worse. I didnt think it was alkaligrass so got Dr. Christians out and was identified as Timothy.
Great conversations today at the Iowa SFMA Field of Dreams Workshop! Thanks for the great info about turfgrass management products Tim VanLoo from @DKProducts1 and Curt Myers from @AGRILANDFS !
Great day at the iconic Field of Dreams for an @Iaturfinstitute field day. Appreciate the opportunity to speak to the sports turf managers of iowa about turf products.
