Hoping @MrT will consider being on my Gen X podcast. Mr. T, We are Salty J and Jenn X from the Breath Control & Bad Decisions Podcast, a Gen X podcast where we talk about the stuff that permanently damaged our childhoods, our hearing and probably our attention spans. We are currently doing an entire episode about YOU. Not just B.A. Baracus. Not just Clubber Lang. Not just the mohawk, the gold, “I pity the fool,” the cereal, the Atari commercials, WrestleMania, the cartoon, or the fact that an entire generation of children apparently thought you could solve any problem with a welding torch and enough attitude. We’re talking about why Mr. T actually mattered to Gen X. You were everywhere when we were kids. Television. Movies. Cereal boxes. Toys. Commercials. Saturday morning cartoons. Wrestling. Anti-drug campaigns. You somehow managed to be one of the toughest-looking men on television while simultaneously telling kids to stay in school, respect their parents and stay away from drugs. Basically, you were a walking contradiction wearing enough gold to make a jewelry store nervous. And we loved you for it. We would absolutely LOVE to have you join us for a short podcast conversation about what it was like to become one of the defining faces of Gen X. We’d ask you the questions Gen X actually wants answered: Did you realize how completely you were taking over our childhood? What did you think about the Mr. T cereal? Did you ever get tired of people saying “I pity the fool”? What was it like watching millions of kids imitate your mohawk and catchphrases? Did you know B.A. Baracus was going to become THAT iconic? And what do you think Gen X remembers about Mr. T that people today don’t understand? We’d also love to hear your side of the story about your career and the choices you’ve made since stepping away from Hollywood. No gotcha interview. No manufactured drama. Just two Gen X women who grew up watching you and genuinely want to talk about why you became such a massive part of our generation’s childhood. And yes, we promise not to put you on a plane.
