Today, I am stepping down from the position of Deputy Head of @CabinetBelarus and Representative for Foreign Affairs. It was an honor to serve the people of Belarus in @Tsihanouskaya team at this critical stage of our nation’s history.

I am convinced this support will continue as a democratic, free, independent Belarus is in the interest of the entire European region and global community.

BMZ continues to sell its steel to the U.S. despite U.S. sanctions.

Last month @Euroradio_EN wrote that Lithuanian companies continue to cooperate with BMZ despite the EU sanctions imposed on the company. Now it turns out that BMZ continues to trade not only with EU countries, but also with the United States, where the company and its subsidiaries are also under sanctions.

Based on the data received by the Alliance of Belarusian Investigators, it turns out that steel products from Belarusian BMZ still get to the American market, but not through the official subsidiary BelCapSteel, but through two private companies – Pisec Group America and Commodity General Trading.

The latter was created by Belarusian Siarhei Karpushkin, who was recently spotted by the U.S. law enforcement agencies for his connection with Ukrainian oligarch Serhii Kurchenko, who supplied steel products from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to the United States. In one of the cases of the U.S. court, it’s said that Karpushkin’s Commodity General Trading is an official dealer of BMZ.

The second dealer, through which BMZ circumvents U.S. sanctions, is Pisec Group America of Austrian Karl Pisec. In 2020-2022, this company imported 125 thousand tons of steel from Belarus to the U.S., and judging by the fact that it’s not (yet) subject to any restrictions, they can continue to transport Belarusian steel to circumvent U.S. sanctions.

Today marks 3 years since Viktar Babaryka & his son Eduard were kidnapped by the Lukashenka regime. We haven't heard from Viktar since he was admitted to a hospital in April. Eduard is currently on trial & faces up to 20 years in prison. We must keep fighting for their release.

I send my heartfelt condolences to the family & friends of 37-year-old poet Dmitry Sorokin, who died while in detention in Lida on June 1st. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, but we know that security forces are trying to obscure the truth.
