🚨 BREAKING: The FBI now believes the mass shooting at a bar in Austin, Texas, that killed three and injured 14 was an “act of terrorism.”

My team has provided GPS to the authorities, including the past 30 days of the suspect's GPS, incorporating vehicle data. All devices were then cross-pollinated with every device in the suspect's immediate area and then matched with internet activity, shopping, uber, doordash, banking, and social media.

The mass shooting occurred early Sunday morning, March 1, 2026, in downtown Austin, Texas, at Buford's Backyard Beer Garden (often referred to as Buford's bar) on West 6th Street in the city's popular nightlife/entertainment district.

Time and Location: The incident began around 1:58–1:59 a.m. CST (reports vary slightly between and just before a.m.), with the first shots fired from a large SUV outside the bar.

A male suspect in a large SUV circled the block multiple times. He activated flashers, rolled down the window, and fired a pistol from the vehicle, targeting patrons on the patio and in front of the bar.

He then parked nearby (westbound on 6th Street, near Wood Street), exited on foot armed with a rifle, and continued shooting at passersbys.

Casualties:

2 victims killed (civilians/patrons).
14 injured (some sources note 3 in critical condition; Austin EMS reported 14 hospitalized initially, with total patients at the scene around 17, including any others).
The suspect was fatally shot by 3 Austin Police Department (APD) officers who returned fire after confronting him.

Total dead: 3 (2 victims + the suspect)

Response: APD officers responded quickly (EMS arrived within about 57 seconds of the call). The suspect was killed on the scene.

Investigation: The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force is assisting APD. Evidence found on the suspect and in his vehicle indicates a "potential nexus to terrorism," per FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Alex Doran (San Antonio Field Office). He initially emphasized it's "way too early" to determine motive or confirm terrorism definitively, but indicators prompted their involvement, including specialty teams for evidence processing and digital forensics.

The suspect has been identified as Ndiaga Diagne, a 53-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen originally born in Senegal and residing in Pflugerville, Texas (a suburb north of Austin). A Quran was found in his car. The shooting is being investigated as motivated by ideology.
