Running under this year's national theme, "Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth," the GSU is leveraging the platform to demonstrate how a secure, resilient nation forms the bedrock of sustainable trade and economic progress. Established in 1948 and officially designated as the G.S.U. in 1953, this elite formation of the Kenya Police Service has undergone continuous modernisation. Today, the unit, led by the Commandant, Mr. Johana Tonui, AIG, boasts advanced personnel training, state-of-the-art equipment, and superior operational capabilities tailored to safeguard Kenya’s economic and developmental interests. By protecting vital national infrastructure, international trade installations, and manufacturing corridors, the unit ensures that climate-smart agricultural investments and trade hubs operate in a safe environment. These operations remain a key enabler for local and international investors seeking to drive sustainable economic growth across the region and beyond. This year's trade fair at the Jomo Kenyatta Showground, Mkomani, has witnessed an unprecedented level of productive interaction between GSU officers and members of the public. By sharing insights widely with students, youth, men, and women across all cadres, the unit is dismantling long-held misconceptions and bridging the historic gap between law enforcers and the public.
