It’s a new day.
Today, we’re announcing that we’ve formed the FT Specialist Guild.

We are pleased to see David Simon—renowned author, journalist and screenwriter—amplifying this important message on behalf of @FTUSGuild.
“Until this industry once again values the people who are elemental to the product, first-class journalism will remain at risk,” he says.
Financial Times showing they can horde resources and chisel working reporters and editors as well as any other media organization. Until this industry once again values the people who are elemental to the product, first-class journalism will remain at risk.
Support @FTUSGuild
We applaud our sister union @FTUSGuild for staging this action to secure competitive, common sense wage increases across the US newsroom.
Just 1% of the £30mn investment in the company’s new venture capital arm would be enough to facilitate these increases!
This morning, we sent an email to management and FT Ventures, the FT’s new £30mn venture capital arm set up to invest in “high-growth media and tech companies.” We asked them to invest just 1% of that in the US newsroom, where revenues have increased by more than 40% since 2019
Solidarity to our sister union @FTUSGuild as they head to the bargaining table this week to secure their first contract! When we fight, we win.
Join us in supporting our colleagues by sharing this and spreading the word.
We’re in (hopefully) the final stretch of bargaining for our first contract with the @FT! We’re kicking off a week of in-person bargaining with management today in New York. But the work is far from over. We’ve still got a lot to fight for.
WGAE members at Financial Times Specialist, an editorial division of @FT, overwhelmingly ratified a groundbreaking first collective bargaining agreement after more than two years of negotiations! 🎉👏 @ftsguild#1u

This morning, we were notified that Hearst Magazines has laid off 41 of our unit members. Due to “company restructuring,” we are losing talented people whose creativity and institutional knowledge is immeasurable. (1/5)
WE DID IT: the Guild is excited to announce that we will recommend our industry-leading contract for #ratification! Management has agreed to terms and conditions set forth by the Guild, and we will move to ratify as soon as possible.
We also would like to extend our solidarity to all the writers under WGA who are striking for better livelihoods and actively fighting to transform the culture of entertainment media nationwide. https://t.co/JUWl43g2PH
Solidarity with our colleagues in the @ftsguild as they fight for union security, a cornerstone of a strong union contract. We call on their management to finish the deal.
