Members of @FTUSGuild stopped work for 30 minutes today to deliver a clear message to @FT CEO John Ridding and our owner @Nikkei: We deserve fair compensation
We’re fighting for a higher retirement match, improved parental leave and one-time raises for our lowest-paid colleagues
We’d also like to thank @FT management for their time and effort engaging in productive negotiations.
We look forward to working together for the duration of our contract, and beyond, to make the FT a great place to work.
We are celebrating Labor Day by announcing that a supermajority of our over-600 person union signed a pledge of support for a strike. We have scheduled a strike authorization vote 🗳️ 🪧
Fantastic news from our fellow journalists and union members in the US. After protracted and tough negotiations they have a recognition deal to be proud of. Sending congratulations and, as always, solidarity, from @ftnuj and @NUJofficial A great fight and a great win! ✊❤️
Three years, nine months—from the first meeting where we pledged to form a union, to today. I love the committee members past and present @FTUSGuild. I love our unit. I love our allies at @ftnuj, @ftsguild and @newsguild.
We did it. Because ...
WHEN WE FIGHT, WE WIN! ✊✊✊
Incredibly proud of our entire newsroom for securing this deal, especially our absolutely tireless bargaining committee and contract action team that made this all possible! ✊
We have some exciting news to share: We have a deal!!
More than two years after our union was recognized, we’ve finally come to a tentative agreement with the Financial Times and will put it to our members for a vote.
THANK YOU to our incredible bargaining committee, and every member who fought for better working conditions. You’ve all made the FT’s US newsroom a better place to work.
