Today I got asked why I "support local" businesses on IG that are very similar to mine. The answer is simple. As Muslims, we know that our Rizq (wealth) has already been writen for us. So there's no need to step over someone else to get ahead.
It doesn't harm anyone to be kind.

Two young professionals are earning the same amount of money:

One drives a R500k BMW with a R450k car loan but only has R1k in the bank; people think he's rich.

The other drives a R100k Polo with no car loan but has R500k in the bank (savings and investments); people think he's broke.

We can't deny that nice cars reflect our status, but wealth is what we can't see now; it becomes apparent later in life, as generational wealth.

P.S. There's no right or wrong; everyone decides what's best for them.
