The public rely on both democracy and free markets. Political power play disrupts our democracies while rampant capitalism distorts our free markets. Both the political power play and rampant capitalism can be avoided.
@MaggieDownie@tonywestonuk@widespreadhaze People collectively do not know what they want hence failure of direct democracy. Using political parties (representative democracy) makes us/people susceptible to manipulation. A budget driven democracy gives structure to people's needs +people control the budget all the time.
@tonywestonuk@widespreadhaze Agreed. Everyone feels that by doing what is allowed they are good people. People struggle to agree on what is to be allowed, so what is allowed is being constantly manipulated - by the politicians together with the rich. This is the historical REAL problem.
@tonywestonuk The real problem is the rich can buy out the competition, they influence the politicians with their large donations, they control the media, they get inside information on what govt is planning. In each case the free market we all rely upon is compromised.
@AlanDownunder@1RossGittins The primary driver of every economy is goods and services, fin transactions are secondary. Unfortunately today, easy money is made in the secondary market hence the gamblers. A lot of effort is spent controlling these gamblers that distort our economy and the effort of others.
@1RossGittins Nothing comes for free. Ultimately we have to produce goods and services to match the amount of currency in circulation. Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Argentina = low goods and serv = low currency value.
@RDNS_TAI Another case of politics overriding what the people want. Can't see how this is winning more votes from the public... Is it the big donor's who are calling the shots?? #auspol
@3ris9@confused_sage@StevenHailAus It's not the rich who at fault. It's the current system that allows this all to happen seamlessly. Everyone feels they deserve the wealth they earn as long as it ticks all the boxes. Preserving the environment or being thoughtful of the plight of others is secondary.
@3ris9@StevenHailAus Agree, the money has filtered through to the rich. All the things they can afford have gone up. While others can not even think of buying a house when they can barely put food on the table. In the meantime they will soon face higher rentals.
Our intelligence has grown exponentially while our democracies and free markets are still based on the lower intelligence levels of the last century.

@policypress @spiritofwilson @BPrainsack Both engineering and gardening are relevant. It's democracy and our free markets that are failing to provide the right signals that allow society to rebalance two or more elements.
@JulianBurnside@DanielBleakley@ScottMorrisonMP He is doing what wins votes. That is his only purpose. Even if he has to swing the public's thinking to gain votes. It's all about gaining and maintaining power.
@ChristiaanVanV Problem with representative democracy. Once elected politicians have power. Donations help to win elections. Donors want something in return. Political power is abused. WITHOUT DONATIONS NO POWER.
@TheFocus_RA @UniofAdelaide@ScottMorrisonMP@StephanieKelton@JoshFrydenberg@djolney3@AlboMP @billy_blog @StevenHailAus That's great for uninformed. Now that we clear on money creation let's put hard focus on how that money is spent. A national budget is instrumental. Party politics is a huge distraction where the budget is constantly being manipulated for favours or to maintain power.
@StevenHailAus Money circulation facilitates trade+motivates. If more money motivates more production/services = good/best outcome. OTOH without a corresponding increase in production/services the currency value goes down and we have inflation = poor outcome. This is independent of any deficit
@FlickReynolds Politics should be about the people. 2 party politics distracts politicians into power play where people are 2nd. Power play at national and local levels are killing our democracies worldwide. Power play allows big players #Murdoch to buy into our economies.
@UnlearnEcon Till now increasing GDP =more jobs =more luxuries. With climate change the focus is on WHAT we produce rather than HOW MUCH we produce. Modern tech allows us to produce everything /anything but all of it consumes limited resources. Today's power tech requires a new level of care.
@OzMyHomeMAC@MichaelWestBiz@FahyMichelle @Senator_Patrick As long as the emphasises is on power play, the corruption will continue in all forms. Break up the power play, spread the decision making between wider independent groups, and we will have better/REAL representation of public interests
@DanielBleakley@abcnews@ScottMorrisonMP As long as there is a power struggle in politics, the rich will find a way to manipulate politics. Once elected political parties have too much power and control. Politics needs reform, and this is evident worldwide, and at every level of politics, including local councils.
