Nothing like resubmitting a letter of recommendation for the Fulbright for a student who won it last year, was unable to go because of COVID, and is being forced by the program to reapply, no guarantees. Peak #2020

@kimediavale If that is what you want, you should call your senators and representatives. Right now, you will be competing with scholars from 2019-2020 at least. It’s still not clear what deferment means for 2020-2021 grantees, many of whom already withdrew from grants they were awarded.

We are glad to see that @FulbrightPrgrm is now offering deferment to the 2021-22 year for 2020-21 grantees.

They have still not reached out to 2019-2020 grantees whose awards were cut short.

@warandzevon @jesspsa Just keep in mind, the suspension of the program in March did not give individual commissions much say. It seems they have tried to work in more agency since then but ultimately this is up to the State Dept and the Fulbright Board.

@formtheturtle @SpeakerPelosi @RepEliotEngel @CoryBooker Encouraged to re-apply may be a better way of phrasing it for the 2020-21 cohort, in case the year is canceled. 2019-2020 scholars were told reapplying would be the only way to finish our awards.
