Lately, I’ve seen a lot of intense pit bull fear here on X, and much of it is absolute nonsensical graphs and stats. Here's the real stats:

The absolute risk of being killed by one of the pit bull breeds in the U.S. is extremely low - roughly 1 in 12–13 million per year based on long-term averages around 25–30 fatalities annually.

By comparison, the chance of being struck by lightning in a given year is less than 1 in a million. Both are extremely rare events.

Most serious incidents involve known dogs and preventable factors (supervision, containment, ownership practices). Stats don’t erase individual tragedies, but they do put the national risk in perspective.

The reason it was a bit different in 2024 is that we had just come off a record inflation rate of around 10%, and wages weren't catching up. It was a painful few years. Trump has managed to bring that inflation down (although I acknowledge he could do more), and wages have now mostly caught up.

There's still an affordability issue worth addressing, but we've kind of migrated away from the comment I was originally replying to, which was a kid complaining that his fast-food burrito was $20. Cook at home. And by the way, I was saying that same stuff in 2024 too.

Two things can be true at once- there's an affordability issue, and you have more power to improve your situation than you think.
