This reminds me games are a really good motivator too (also a dopamine boost) so if you can somehow make a game out of it or create a fun challenge that would also be effective in helping you finish a task (or many tasks)
My pressure point was shame and being threatened lmao. Not being compared to my brother. 😅 Trying to unlearn this in adulthood (also why this method doesn’t work for a lot of people because it just encourages negative self talk and self comparison)
Still haven’t completely mastered what works for me, but usually its some form of flow state multi tasking. “How many tasks can I get done while this longer task is being completed.” ie. Meal prepping + listening to audiobooks while I run my laundry.
A lot of people with ADHD rely on external rewards or pressure to complete tasks
Find that external pressure point *that motivated you in childhood* and recreate it
Find a reward that’s attractive enough to motivate you to work for it
a lot of tips for executive dysfunction are like “pretend the hat man is pointing a gun at you” “put your clock 15 minutes ahead”and i don’t understand how are these tricks supposed to work because maybe i’m simply too.. aware?
Rewards can be situational & you should focus on things that give you a dopamine boost…you can only scroll on your phone when you finish your task, you can smoke a joint when the task is done, you can use your new candle when you finish the task, etc.
@ashanism For example your method sounds effective for you but may not work for me bc I have OCD tendencies & the chance of not finishing a task before another has to be done would stress me out too much 😂 seems OP is trying to apply methods that may not be effective for them personally
@ashanism Can’t cleanly remove that association, it may not be as healthy to apply and rewards or “games” would be more effective! But regardless of what you do I think the motivators have to be very personal, and ppl should focus on learning what truly motivates them even if it’s odd lol
@ashanism Yes when my parents got home I would be criticized or punished lol but in adulthood I don’t experience that yet that pressure of someone coming home still motivates me to get things done. A lot of times the pressure from childhood came with negative reinforcement and if you—
That's kind of the point, though. Humans who do evil are still just human. You can understand that while still holding them accountable. Nobody has to be "all evil" for you to dislike them. Free yourself from black & white thinking! It'll save you from a lot of unnecessary shame.
It’s so funny when tropical Taurus gets described as conflict averse or unable to address things and now I understand that as sidereal Aries genuinely not respecting you and seeing you as inferior, not worthy of their time or clarification lolll exaltation of sun for a reason
@VenusianVirago It probably depends on the condition of sun and other placements in the chart, I’ve seen Aries be just plain confident and unaffected I’ve also seen Aries who have that superiority complex & devalue others
@VenusianVirago I think it can get to the point of feeling superior esp if it’s Aries Sun, but if they aren’t confronting something they are definitely not seeing you as worthy of it in some way
Purva Phalguni women have a very simplistic way of dressing/styling themselves, very “ran out the door,” “just threw something on” there’s an ease to it that makes it feel more chic when they have it on
