#OTD in 1983, The Mighty @VanHalen plays the US Festival at San Bernardino, CA. VH received an upfront sum of $1,500,000. VH headlined "Heavy Metal Day", which consisted of: Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions, Van Halen.

Too good to check: Ozzy & Sabs were told that “a bar band from LA” would be opening for them.

Watch the sequence from 40 seconds in, until 1:25 or so.

This was no “bar band from Los Angeles” - Van Halen in 1978 was a force of nature.

Templeman sequenced the albums. He'd change the sequencing many times before settling on the final running order. He thinks that FW and DD had incorrect song listings on the back on the albums because those sequences were the ones he'd come up with when the album art was printed.
