But “it” is not a noun, it’s a pronoun. Think of it like him or her. We don’t say him’s or her’s. We say his or hers. This is a different word to indicate possession; not simply a modification of the word using ’s.
His, hers, its. Remember: “it’s” always means “it is”.
Can we clear up something? It’s its.
Many intelligent people, whom I respect for what they write, get this wrong.
