Today, I disbursed Kshs 5,700,840 raised during the Marindi Market Fundraiser held on 25th April 2026 to 2,836 traders across all 22 sections of Marindi Market who were adversely affected by the River Migori floods.

Together with the Kshs 250,000 NGAAF grant that I issued during the fundraiser, this intervention underscores my steadfast commitment to restoring livelihoods, accelerating economic recovery, and empowering the people I am privileged to serve.

Empowerment is not merely about providing financial assistance, it is about restoring hope, rebuilding dignity, creating opportunities, and enabling individuals and families to regain their economic independence. When communities are empowered, they become more resilient, productive, and capable of shaping a better future for themselves and generations to come.

I extend my sincere gratitude to all leaders, partners, well-wishers, stakeholders, and members of the public whose generosity and support made this noble initiative possible.

Together, we are rebuilding lives, restoring businesses, and strengthening our community.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic fire incident at Utumishi Girls High School in Gilgil that has claimed the lives of innocent students and left many families in profound grief.

My heartfelt condolences go to the parents, guardians, teachers, and the entire school community during this painful time. I also pray for the swift recovery of those injured and strength to all emergency responders involved in the rescue efforts.
