Today, I had the honour of presiding over the inaugural Catering Graduation Ceremony at Migori Teachers Training College, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to youth empowerment through skills development and economic inclusion.

The initiative is designed to equip young people across Migori County with essential tools of trade, enabling them to establish sustainable livelihoods, pursue entrepreneurship and achieve financial independence.

The ceremony was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Hon. Geoffrey Ruku, and H.E. Gladys Wanga, Governor of Homa Bay County, who joined us in celebrating the graduates’ achievements and reaffirming the importance of investing in practical skills for economic empowerment.

Also in attendance were ODM Secretary General Hon. Catherine Omanyo, Hon. Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira County), Hon. Doris Donya (Kisii County), Nominated MP Hon. Irene Mayaka, and other distinguished leaders.

As the Member of Parliament for Migori County and through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), I remain committed to championing initiatives that empower our youth with practical skills, expand economic opportunities and equip them to become self-reliant and productive members of society.

Our mission is to transform skills into opportunities, opportunities into livelihoods, and livelihoods into lasting economic independence.

Later today, I joined the Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Hon. @OpiyoWandayi, at the North Kanyamkago Bodaboda Community-Based Organization Empowerment Event held at Mori, in the North Kanyamkago Ward in Uriri Constituency. The event was hosted by area Member of County Assembly Hon. George Omamba.

Today, I joined fellow Christian faithfuls at Santa Maranatha Church in Nyabasi West Ward, Kuria East Constituency, for a fellowship service and fundraising towards the construction of the church. I was honoured to stand with the congregation in support of this noble initiative.

May God bless the church, its leadership, and all the faithfuls contributing towards the completion of this house of worship.

I made my way to the Nyamome residence of the Ngao family to personally express my most sincere and heartfelt condolences in the wake of the recent passing of the late Jack Otieno Rasto. During this incredibly difficult period of mourning, I want to assure the family that I stand firmly by their side, and I am praying that God provides them with the necessary strength, comfort, and fortitude to help them navigate through this profoundly painful loss.

Yesterday, 8th October 2026, in my capacity as Chairperson of the Special Funds Accounts Committee, I moved a Motion in the National Assembly seeking the adoption of the Committee’s 12th Report on the examination of the audited financial statements of the Agricultural Information Resource Centre Revolving Fund for the financial years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022.

The Report highlights key issues of public financial management, including procurement compliance, governance structures, budget accountability, accuracy of financial statements and proper asset management.

Our commitment remains clear: strengthening parliamentary oversight, promoting accountability in the utilisation of public resources, and ensuring prudent financial management in public institutions.

Accountability is the foundation of effective governance and responsible stewardship of public resources.
