After a long period of discernment I am leaving Eastern Orthodoxy for Rome on the basis on primarily Saint Celestine and Saint Agatho alongside a long plethora of witnesses to the papacy

I love all of you my brothers and sisters I’m sorry things have to end with my departure from you all and the unity we shared

I am grieved and have been grieving the reality of this for awhile forgive me all of you

Not to change the subject from burritos but when I was earning poverty wages in my 20s I used to go to Subway nearly every day and get a footlong Italian sub for 5 dollars. It was generally the only big meal I would eat in a day.

If I was hungry later at night, I could always swing by McDonald’s and grab a chicken sandwich for a dollar.

All of these people are screaming about “eating at home” but I basically never made meals at home in those days and I was able to get by. You used to be able to survive on low wages without making meals from scratch. If that’s not possible anymore then it’s a sign that our standard of living is declining. That’s a problem. You should care about that.

Anyway, I went to a Subway recently and that same sandwich was 13 dollars. McDonald’s, of course, doesn’t sell anything for a dollar anymore.

On the eve of the Feast of the Assumption, St. Anthony of Padua struggled with doubts about whether the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken body and soul into Heaven. He prayed earnestly for light and clarity🇻🇦

In response, Our Lady appeared to him in a beautiful vision. She assured him that she was indeed assumed into Heaven, body and soul, and urged him to defend and proclaim this profound truth.

St. Anthony obeyed with zeal. He preached and wrote powerfully about the Assumption, using rich scriptural imagery. Centuries later, when Pope Pius XII solemnly defined the Dogma of the Assumption in 1950, he highlighted St. Anthony’s exceptional contributions to this teaching.

This powerful story reminds us that Mary, the Mother of God, is our greatest intercessor. Her Assumption is a sign of hope for all of us, where she has gone, we hope to follow, through the grace of her Son.

I know of 4 young Evangelical couples who have divorced recently, each due to the same issue

The man was narcissistic, controlling, manipulative, and used Scripture to justify the abusive behavior and compel Submission to it

Some estimates put the incidence of Narcissistic Personality Disorder in men as high as 9%. Unfortunately, these men will be abusive in marriage and will use Scripture to justify their behavior and demand complete submission to it

Based on the statistics and my own experience with this pattern, I do not think red flags should be ignored when young women are dating

What Joshua proposes here would be a red flag and my daughter would not be allowed to continue dating a man who did this

One of the easiest ways for a man to see if a woman is worth pursuing: ask her to dress modestly in public (since most don’t these days).
