if your solo debut is at the UN and you deliberately say you want to make the world a better place, you simply cant wear a fucking genocidal symbol. ppl are downplaying what the confederate flag represents. mark needs to do much more than that little apology he didnt even write.
I think my favorite thing about when kpop idols do something culturally insensitive is when their most ignorant stans are like “ummm..I just found out about this ‘confederate flag’ two seconds ago. So maybe they just didn’t know. Maybe they’re just a clueless idiot like me”
the privilege & ignorance to say it’s “just a shirt” or they don’t know any better when the confederate flag symbolizes racism and vitriol against black americans and is overly common to spot in the southern united states. way too many people are minimizing this
and this is why kpop will forever be a laughing stock when it comes to serious issues ksksks one nothing burger apology post and uve got the fans scrambling to their feets praising the idol and company
lowkey calling mark stupid is too easy and a copout... it kind of absolves and dismisses the issue... like he’s actually purposely moronic and cares about nothing how could u not know what that flag is ur 26 bro
@jisuology like there are def stores here that do it too but i guess where im from its like… those stores only have those things so you’d have to kinda be searching them out. but it could also just be the part of the state i live in too!!
i’m going to be so honest most of the thrift stores even In the bible belt don’t put these things on the shelves unless you’re in Deep South vintage/thrift stores.
what i'm still confused about is where tf did you get that vintage item are they selling confederate stuff in sk or did you go thrifting in the bible belt
and can i just say apologies that dont mention exactly what the issue is are always so weird to me bc ppl who arent aware of the situation can look at this and be like “everyone is overreacting it was a vintage shirt they didnt know” like bro it was the Literal Confederate flag
