Would love to see the #opera community speak up about drag bans.

Drag in opera (Trouser roles and Castrato / countertenor roles) shaped opera as we know it.

People say “BUT ITS DIFFERENT”… it’s actually not. Drag is not new. Drag is everywhere in our history.

Given the new drag bans, these roles would be included in the ban. I’m talking Mozart, Handel, Monteverdi… I KNOW RIGHT.

So please please, if you love opera like I do, SPEAK UP.

If we lose drag, we lose some of the most historically important art.
