@HalfonJesse@AutonoD As a Tesla owner I am finding this out, too. I don’t mind since I bought my car without full autonomous expectations, but they have a lot to do to live up to considering @elonmusk’s claims
@chaserobertsonn @tydzima @MinimalDuck@wholemars@Tesla@elonmusk@Waymo Or what if the passenger wanted to go outside of a pre mapped city? Would the service decline their request? That just isn’t a full autonomy. Tesla has a lot of work ahead of them. I am confident that they will get there, but even with Neuralink I doubt that it will be soon.
@chaserobertsonn @tydzima @MinimalDuck@wholemars@Tesla@elonmusk@Waymo Pretty risky if you were to consider possible rapid changing weather conditions. If you don’t account for that, then sure, but again, that would be unrealistic. Would the car with a passenger have to pull over until a thunderstorm or other impeding weather condition passed?
@tydzima @chaserobertsonn@MinimalDuck@wholemars@Tesla@elonmusk@Waymo According to common definitions for autonomous driving, yes. Here is a good article from legislation perspective: https://t.co/wQHvv6CtFo or more technical https://t.co/2oNn00EAJL Again, I love my Tesla, I just wished they’d be more forthcoming and honest in product marketing.
@chaserobertsonn @tydzima @MinimalDuck@wholemars@Tesla@elonmusk@Waymo Level 4 would not require the driver to take over under any circumstance, a definition of a taxi. In other words, you would not even have to sit in the driver’s seat like @Waymo. Sorry, I just do not see @Tesla doing that any time soon.
@chaserobertsonn@elonmusk I don’t. I just cannot figure out how @Tesla will solve the autonomous Level 4 puzzle with a camera only system. I don’t think that my 2019 Model 3 will be up to full self drive (zero human intervention door to door journies). Just being realistic. Will buy Tesla again though :)
@chaserobertsonn@MinimalDuck@wholemars@Tesla@elonmusk@Waymo Disengaged on me twice last week, damn winter. Not to bust balls, I love my Tesla, but am realistic enough that FSD won’t make it to this generation of models, not without a LiDAR-type solution added. Camera’s are not enough, and ‘fully mapped cities’ is not true autonomy ;)
@chaserobertsonn@MinimalDuck@wholemars@Tesla@elonmusk@Waymo It just does not have backup systems in place. The backup is always human in @Tesla cars and according to SAE J3016 standards that keeps it Level 3. Have you tried driving your Tesla into a low hanging sun? There is no backup for when the camera based AP/FSD will disengage.
