When my dad was alive, we never bought yam. A whole bus would bring it in from Oja Agbe in Iseyin and offload at Iyana Ipaja park, then my uncle would go pick everything up and bring it home. We had so much that we shared with family friends all over our street.

Now, with how expensive yam has become, I sometimes wonder if that would even be possible today if my parents were still here.

I left LAUTECH telling God I was done studying in Nigeria. Life had other plans. I secured multiple admissions in the U.S., but visa denials shut that door. I rewrote the GRE to improve my chances… then Trump happened.

Now, I might end up doing exactly what I never wanted at least for now while I keep positioning myself for opportunities in other countries.
