@profnickstone Hi Nick. Multiple v-grooves allow the beam to exit again after a single internal reflection. We do this to reduce the effective pathlength of the beam through the IRE. Otherwise, large amounts of energy will be lost due to absorption via internal lattice vibrations of the Silicon
