Walt Disney once said - "Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children." He built an empire on the belief that children deserve the absolute highest quality of human craftsmanship and storytelling.
Today, the modern Walt Disney Company is explicitly betraying that legacy. The current leadership has decided that human artists are too expensive and children’s minds are too cheap, that they can be treated like a dumping ground for mindless, algorithmic AI slop.
Final update: here's the footage from after the AI short aired at Annecy. When creating art we have to think of the mediums we use and the message that is conveyed. In this case, one cannot critique fascism while actively engaging (and supporting) it via the medium used (a LLM).
Saw a lot of films at Annecy this year. TANGLES is probably the frontrunner for the Oscars, but JULIAN from Cartoon Saloon is head and shoulders the best thing I saw all week.
This is the magic of stage theater.
Toku may translate hallmarks of stage to screen.
Here? The energy is tangible. Laid bare before you.
No calling cut. No fixing in post.
Just talented people warping reality right in front of y--WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT?
