48-hour duties. Thrice a week.
Sleep reduced to 2–3 nights a week.
Residents losing 10+ kg in a month.
Stipend being cut without explanation.
This is NOT medical training. This is exploitation.
Velammal Medical College, Madurai — what exactly are you running? A hospital or a labour camp?
Overworked, underpaid, sleep-deprived doctors are being forced to “function” while patient lives are at stake.
And you still call this “education”?
Where are the regulators?
Where is accountability?

BJ Govt Medical College, Pune — General Surgery Dept
06 AM to 02 AM shifts.
72–96 HOURS of continuous duty.
No sleep. No food. No staff support.
Residents doing EVERYTHING — from emergency duties to lab work — like bonded labour.
🚨 This is NOT training. This is SYSTEMIC ABUSE.
National Medical Commission norms clearly cap duty hours — yet they’re being openly VIOLATED.
How long will this exploitation continue?
How many doctors need to BREAK before authorities wake up?
Tagging those responsible:

What’s happening inside ERA Medical College, Lucknow is nothing short of systemic abuse.
JR1 residents in General Surgery are being forced to work 6 AM to 1 AM, only to report again at 6 AM the next day.
No sleep. No rest. No dignity.
And it doesn’t stop there 👇
• Denied basic rights like lunch breaks & even talking to family
• Verbal abuse for minor mistakes
• Unpaid stipends
• Residents forced to pay for consultants’ meals
• In General Medicine: 36-hour continuous duty with no food or rest
This is not “training.”
This is modern-day exploitation dressed as medical education.
And the worst part?
It’s not just one department — this toxicity spans Surgery, Medicine, Pulmonary, OBGYN, Orthopedics.
Private college.
Silenced voices.
Fear of retaliation.
How long will this continue?
Tagging authorities who MUST answer:

If we lose our doctors to burnout, depression, and breakdowns…
who will be left to treat the patients?

If we want to reduce toxicity , we need to ATTACK the reputation of the college/institute.
The kind of msgs i am getting from JR1’s makes my blood boil in anger
A structured attack is what we need
1. Send me your problem. I shall post without your name but highlighting the college/institute
2. Within a couple of
Hours, the college gets to know( prior posts had that effect)
3. They shall call you or your CO JR’s to intimidate you or to write an apology letter
4. Go ahead and do it. We have already won.
We are not here to erase toxicity in a single day, but to put fear in the minds of the consultant that someone is watching them and they shall think 10 times before ordering tea from a JR1 next time.

IITs were created as institutes of excellence so the engineers who graduated from them would help to build the country. Sadly, most immigrate to maximise their income. Why aren't they made to sign the same bond doctors are forced to? Our taxes subsidise their education!
They say govts 'spend lakhs' educating one medical student.
A lazy lie, repeated loudly on X.
Let me show u the real cost paid not in money, but in human life-hours. Effort. Emotions.
Yesterday, my MCh Urology residents walked in at 7 AM.
They rounded on inpatients, listened, reassured, examined, adjusted care.
Every pt, every need. No shortcuts.
Lunch was skipped. Coz,
a cadaver kidney donor had arrived.
They assisted in harvesting d kidneys, knowing there would be no pause, because a transplant cannot wait.
Dinner was skipped too.
At 1: 30 AM, I began the cadaver kidney transplant. They assisted carefully.
We finished at 5 AM.
Not a minute of sleep.
Not a blink of rest.
And yet by morning 8 AM they were back in the same OT, assisting routine surgeries again.
Coz pts were waiting.
Because duty does not care about exhaustion.
Post-OT, they rushed to OPD.
150 patients.
Catheters. Dilatations. Scans. Pain. Fear. Hope-handled gently, under pressure, without complaint.
Final ward rounds.
Only after all these, at 4 PM did he/she leave.
That is 36+ hours of continuous work.
No sleep.
Two skipped meals.
Sustained focus while handling lives.
These are not 22-year-olds chasing degrees.
They are 35-40 year old doctors, with spouses, children, ageing parents at home.
Their stipend?
₹62,000 per month.
In the middle of this, a saw a pt picking up a quarrel, demanding 'special' Rx, declaring himself a 'VIP'. In Tamilnadu, all pts r relatives of Donald Trump, or VIP- X,Y or Z.
This schedule repeats atleast twice every week.
When pilots do long hours, we call it fatigue.
When residents do it, we call it dedication,& move on.
So don’t insult us with nonsense about trillions spent on medical education. Doctors don’t get subsidised degrees.
They pay with their youth, sleep, health, and family life.
I walked this road decades ago.
My residents walk it today.
And if ur child chooses medicine, God forbid, U will finally understand what it costs.
Not money.
LIFE.
For years, we have seen videos of doctors being assaulted, and the armchair intellectuals remained silent. Many even mocked the doctors’ plight instead of raising their voice.
Now one video emerges where a doctor refuses to get beaten up and takes action to safeguard himself, and suddenly we have people giving us gyaan. Sorry, we do not need it.
Every doctor has the right to defend himself or herself.
Our resident doctors, who work day in and day out, often in emergencies and in pathetic conditions, are not punching bags.
To those who think they can hit a doctor, Fuck Off!
🚨UPDATE: The doctor involved in this incident is currently fractured and bedridden!
🙏 Sharing the doctor’s version. The version that third-grade, TRP-hungry journalists like @ShivAroor conveniently refuse to show. Journalists who have sold their credibility to peddle shameless, one-sided bullshit and jingoistic noise. Please share with all because no one else will!
➡️ I dare him to share this version and publicly apologise for calling the doctor a thug. If he doesn’t, I will assume this thug journalist is also a coward --> someone who would quietly smile, nod, and say thank you even if a stranger abused his father and mother and then hit him.
---
❌ This DID NOT START with violence from the doctor!
It began with continuous verbal abuse by the patient, including explicit abuse directed at the doctor’s mother and family.
➡️ Despite this, the doctor repeatedly tried to calm the patient down and de-escalate the situation.
✅The doctor has been working here for over 8 years and has treated 5,000–7,000 patients. He clearly states that no patient has ever behaved like this before.
🚨The situation escalated only after the patient:
1. Continued abusing the doctor and his parents
2. Picked up an IV stand and attempted to assault the doctor
3. Pushed the doctor violently, resulting in a fracture of the hand and severe back pain
☠️ After this, the patient called 200–250 people, who entered the ward, created chaos, vandalised hospital property, shouted threats, and turned a hospital into a place of fear.
🚨 Before virtue-signalling from studio chairs and Twitter threads, ask yourself one simple question:
Would you say the same thing if this doctor were you or your brother, your sister, or your parent? If this answer is yes, very sorry to know that the wrong sperm won the competition! 👎🏽
This moment shall be etched in my life forever. We are World Champions today. We have waited so long for this day.
@JayShah sir you told me, you missed my bowling in the finals but all well that ends well.
And this ended absolutely fantastically.

The magnitude of this win isn’t going to sink in for some time. This is one of the biggest moments in Indian cricket. Savour it, cherish it, talk about it. So proud of the team👏👏 #INDvAUS#CWC25
