The people have spoken and I have delivered... Here is "The birth of the Twins"...
“Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Potter. You have two healthy twins.”
Twins.
Draceana and Harry looked down at two healthy children. Their children. They’d been looking forward to this day for months, and now, in the maternity ward of the Hospital of Wizardry and Witchcraft, the day had finally arrived.
Draceana smiled, remembering the sheer panic on Harry’s face when she had gone into labor. She swore his eyes were bigger than the moon. But for Draceana, this was something even more special than her undying love for her husband.
No, this meant so much more to her than Harry could ever understand.
All her life, she had taken and destroyed with no regard for who got hurt. Harry may have changed her behavior, but he could not change the past. But now, for the first time ever, she had made something of her own. And she had given her Harry a son and a daughter.
Harry slowly caressed the children’s faces, taking in every single tiny detail.
“This one has your eyes, honey,” Harry said as he ran his hand around the boy’s face, stopping as he reached the top of his head. “And it appears he’s going to have my hair.”
“And this one has your eyes,” Draceana said as she slowly brushed her finger across her daughter’s face, admiring the beautiful emerald orbs that she had so fallen in love with. “And it looks like this one’s going to be long and blonde,” she said, looking up at her husband with a grin.
Harry gave his wife a flat expression as he looked into those pretense-silver eyes that now rested on his son’s face. He held that gaze for a moment before breaking into a fit of laughter.
“I guess neither of us won the bet, huh, Draceana?” he said between laughs.
Draceana clicked her tongue before also breaking into laughter.
“I guess not, sweetheart. Who would have guessed we’d have twins? And that they’d split our looks straight down the middle to boot. Damn, I was really looking forward to you acting like Dobby for a day.”
“And I was looking forward to you drinking a Polyjuice Potion, transforming into me, and trying to teach one of my classes for a day. I still think the other teachers wouldn’t see through it.”
“Oh, Harry, McGonagall would have seen through me in a heartbeat. She’s known us for too long not to catch us in the act.”
“Exactly!” Harry protested. “She has known us longer than most, and you don’t think she would find it amusing? “She’d probably come up to you at one point and go Harry then stood straighter and started mimicking the headmistress’s voice and mannerism.
“She’d probably come up to you at one point and go, ‘Now, Mrs. Potter, I hope you understand that Hogwarts is a prestigious magical institution, and we expect better of the staff here and not to indulge in such tomfoolery. Now, I assume that Mr. Potter is somewhere around here, no doubt hidden in that cloak he’s so fond of, and I expect him to be teaching his class again tomorrow. Please do let him know that. Now, if you will excuse me.’ Then she would probably turn around and say, ‘Oh, and Draceana, you do make a fine Harry, and it’s good to see you again. I am happy you found someone who truly loves you.’ Then she’d walk away, and I’d get an earful the next time I see her.”
Draceana was now laughing uncontrollably, and she had to quickly put their children in a holder on the bed for fear of accidentally dropping them.
“Yes!” she managed to squeeze out between fits of laughter. “Yes, she would really act like that, wouldn’t she? Bless that woman for managing to put up with us. Between you and me, we’ve probably shortened her life by years trying to deal with us.”
Harry looked at his laughing wife. They’d been through so much; she had gone through so much, but all of that was in the past now. And now, sitting in that hospital bed, surrounded by their twins and laughing uncontrollably, she was the most beautiful woman in the world.
And she was his.
Just as he was hers.
“You know, Pottah,” Draceana suddenly said, seemingly calmed down for now and having become quite smug, “it is said that labor is one of the most painful things a woman can experience, second only to being savagely cut open. So, I guess this is twice now you have caused me great pain. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you hated me.”
Harry sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “You’re never going to let me live that down, are you, Draceana? I did tell you I didn’t know what the spell did. And YOU were about to cast an Unforgivable spell on me, in case you forgot, ‘Pottah.’”
And for the next few minutes, they continued to throw jabs at each other, neither wanting to lose any ground, but neither truly wanting to hurt the other. To an outside viewer, it would seem as if they were fighting. But anyone who was close to the Potters would tell you that this was simply their way of relieving stress and one of the ways they showed their love for each other.
After a while, they calmed down and began admiring their newborns again. Each of them was holding one of their children in their arms, smiling at the little lives they had created. Silver eyes and Green eyes. Brown hair and Golden hair. Gold and silver, Green and brown. Funny, how colors that used to clash at Hogwarts would mix is such a beautiful way.
“So,” Harry said, looking at his wife, “which one of us are they going to take after more?”
“Want to make a bet on it?” Draceana replied.
“Sure, sure. But first, we should probably give them names.”
I had a flash of inspiration so here's a new story
Title: Godric’s Hollow
It was a cool Halloween night, and Draceana had just put Lewis and Lila to bed after a fun night of trick-or-treating. Lewis had dressed up as some Muggle superhero she still didn’t care to understand, while Lila had dressed up as a Slytherin, which Draceana supported wholeheartedly. She had even provided Lila with her old scarf from her time at Hogwarts.
“Mommy, where’s Daddy?” Lila asked while she was being tucked in.
“He’s visiting some family, sweetheart. He’ll be back by morning,” Draceana said before kissing her daughter on the forehead. “Now go to sleep, or a goblin will steal all your candy.”
“Okay, Mommy. Good night!”
“Good night, Lila, and sweet dreams.”
Draceana closed the door, then went across the hall to check on Lewis. Peeking her head in, she could see her son lying on his bed and doing an awful job of pretending to be asleep.
“Good night, Lewis,” she whispered, allowing him to have the momentary satisfaction of thinking he had tricked her. He’d find out in the morning just how wrong he was. After she made sure the children were tucked in bed, she armed the magical security system and went to find her husband.
Harry sat silently in the graveyard at Godric’s Hollow, his breath misting in the cold air as he looked down at what lay before him. In front of him stood the gravestones of James and Lily Potter, his parents.
Since his victory over Tom Riddle, he had come here every year on the anniversary of his parents’ deaths, and today marked the 30th anniversary. He really didn’t know why he had started this tradition. After all, he had been roughly a year old when Tom killed them, not nearly old enough to form memories of them.
But no matter how swamped he was with work or how bad the weather conditions were, Harry always made time to come to this place. He guessed it was simply a way to feel connected to his parents. Sometimes he talked about his life, what was going on with Draceana and the kids, or he just vented about work. Other times, he simply sat in silence, staring down at those two gravestones and wondering if his parents were proud of him.
It gave him comfort.
He heard footsteps approaching, and Harry didn’t have to look up to know who it was.
“How are the kids?” Harry asked Draceana as she sat next to him on the bench.
“Asleep. Or at least Lila is. I caught Lewis pretending to be asleep when I checked in on him. He thinks he’s so clever, trying to trick his mother.” She wrapped her scarf around them both, then gripped one of his hands and leaned her head on his shoulder.
Harry gave her a short chuckle. “Gee, I wonder who he gets that from.”
“I haven’t the faintest idea what you mean.”
“I guess not. Did you hide his candy?”
Draceana gave him a wry grin. “Let’s just say he’s in for a rude awakening tomorrow.”
After that, they fell silent. For a while, they sat in comfortable silence, simply enjoying each other’s company and the little peace they had found since the kids were born.
“You know,” Harry said at last, “you don’t have to come here every year.”
“I know,” Draceana replied. “But I still want to. And it gives me a chance to talk to my parents-in-law. After all, it was because of them that you came into the world. And I will be forever grateful for that.”
Harry turned to face Draceana, who was looking down at his parents’ gravestones reverently. Every year, she took care of the kids during Halloween night so that he could spend some time here. And every year, when the kids were in bed, she would come here to be with him.
In the pale light of the moon, she looked absolutely radiant.
He kissed her on the forehead and said, “I must be the luckiest guy in the world to have someone as amazing and beautiful as you. Of all the spells I have seen in my life, the greatest was the one you cast on me.”
“What brought this on, Harry?” Draceana asked.
She turned toward him, and Harry grabbed both her hands in his and looked into her eyes.
“I never knew my parents, and the Dursleys were horrible to me until the end. So, I never really got to experience familial love. Not until I found you, at least.”
“What about Ron and Mrs. Granger? Didn’t you consider them family?”
Harry shook his head. “No, it’s not the same. Ron and Hermione are good people and my closest friends, but I could never consider them family. It was you who gave me the love I was missing. It was you who finally gave me a family. Thank you, Draceana. I don’t know what I would do without you.”
Tears started to well up in Harry’s eyes, and he began to softly sob.
“Thirty years. It’s been thirty years since their deaths. I miss them, Draceana,” Harry said between sobs. “I know it doesn’t make sense to miss someone you don’t remember, but I do. It’s not fair. I never got to introduce you to them. They never got to see our wedding, and they’ll never get to meet their grandchildren. They’re gone, killed by Tom Riddle and buried under the ground. It’s simply not fai—”
“Shhhh,” Draceana whispered as she buried Harry’s head in her chest. “I know, Harry. I know you miss them. But I’m here for you. Take as long as you need. I love you.”
And so, they sat there. Harry, who was crying over memories he would never have, and Draceana, who was comforting her whole world.
And as they sat there, Draceana thought to herself:
This man and our children are my whole world. And there is nothing on this Earth that would not fight in order to protect my world.
@Pribaris Honestly that's almost why I write most of my fics post deathly hollows. All of the character development has mostly already happened. I try to keep the core personality of fem draco similar but I've also been winging it. (I also haven't read the books in years)
@Turb0_Time I used it for my first fic when I was just entering the trend (though I did use the popular first name) but if I write another fic before they get married I’ll use Malfoy instead
@DavidBenedict0 Never expected my work to end up on a list like that. Hell I never expected any of my work to get more then 100 likes much less closing in on 10,000.
People aren't really hating on it. Most of it is hearsay reactions to reactions. Basically there was a small subset of people on bluesky I think that had a negative reactionto it and the reaction here to that reaction was negative. Then some people nitpicked those reactions on other sites and people who didn't know anything about that trend became negative about it.
@offsitedark I never expected my half-baked fanfics I wrote in like 2 hours would get so much love and attention. I guess it's just the shared love of this trend. I thought I was going to be done but one of my fics took off so I'll gladly make more if I have the time and ideas to do so.
@DavidCortes9000 there was supposed to be a poll cause I want the people to decided. I still might do that but I'm thinking of doing "Lewis" and "Lila"
