So, just got an email from @StanbicIBTC about Foreign Currency Pension Plan for people working/earning ‘abroad’.

A good number of immigrants habour this thought due to inability to effectively say ‘You can’t’ to some kids.

Personally, I believe kids are different. I believe there are those who easily take to corrections, those who need some tough parenting and to understand there are consequences for actions; and then, there is that tiny percentage about whom I will say “Ma God not give us” because … it may take some miracle, no matter where they are bred.

For the second group needing to really understand consequences, it may be good for those ones to spend a few years in a good setting back home. I have heard a lot like that, including an OAP who expressed he enjoyed how his parents sent him back home at some point as he is better for it.

A certain boy was (I think 13) knifed to death in London and the mum lamented how the boy did not get help because they had known all along that he had joined gang. Yes, there are gangs in some places back home, but most present parents will succeed at curbing that in a child of 10 years to late teens.

What is it with 12 year olds being known as gang members and nobody can correct them; not even parents on those streets can call all of them to order?

So, nowhere is perfect but for a certain set of kids, spending few years where they understand consequences MAY help.

I smile whenever my wife explains to my younger son, “Daddy did this, daddy does that…” just so he would realize the daddy who isn’t as emotional and expressive as his mum is the ‘real king’.

I smile not because I want her to do it, but because I understand she just wants him to know, while it doesn’t bother me.

I have transferred N130,000 twice from my @StanbicIBTC account. On both occasions, it came back as transaction pending but the money is still in the account. Now, my balance is about N300 short on charges for 2 transactions that never went.
