@baird43107@politicalmath This assumes all knowledge has already been discovered. Definitely not the case in any academic field. Agree that there’s a lot out there that’s accessible now but even that often requires some facility to genuinely understand. University (when it works well) teaches how to think
@_CLancellotti Don’t think it has to be either/or but agree that accreditors should have been prioritizing faculty governance and faculty/admin and faculty/student ratios, and negatively scoring admin bloat.
@jenteach13 Universities have the same problem. Why have we let so many pointless administrators extract so much money from education? Would love to see someone cut down these positions and redirect funds to teachers/students/spending on actual instruction.
@jennfrey Ban or statement acknowledging in what ways AI was used. If journal or readers discover undisclosed AI use, banned from journal and reported publicly.
@sjc6254@MattEhalt This is part of it. There’s been some bizarre “Grogu went woke” stuff and I’m like, how is this movie woke?
But also a lot of left-leaning critics who make Andor the benchmark of everything and can’t deal with a Star Wars movie that focuses on action, creatures, and charm.
@stephenfishbach Don’t let people talk you out of AUS 2. An amazing season of reality television—the total arc is like nothing I’ve seen on any other show. (Can’t say more without spoiling.)
@DavidAFrench With the same caveat that “it’s not all voters.” But it’s just a fact that too many of them do not care about corruption, or they actively like it.
@asymmetricinfo I’d like to hear from budget hawks willing to raise taxes. Too many only consider spending reduction (often coupled with tax cuts), when all budget fixes need to be on the table.
@EmilyDreyfuss@BobMurphyEcon It’s in an object of the preposition position (“for ____,” where “us” would go rather than “we” in traditional grammar). But not all people follow transitional grammar; and the subject/object distinction flip-flops for pretty much all speakers in at least some contexts.
@hotdamhistorian Was “not x” even an assumption or consideration in the writing or within the audience’s expectations? If not, it’s confusing to even say “it’s not x” before claiming “it’s y.”
