Only reason I got a twitter account was to catch up on my footy news. Proud supporter of @SJEarthquakes, #ElTri and #USMNT. Also, I love me some proper beer.
@DevBo_8 @fadedtoblack@SJEarthquakes I agree with Devin. This @SoccerwiseHQ episode breaks it down pretty well IMO. If anyone can get Fisher to spend, it’d be Arena.
Check out the latest episode of Soccerwise with David and Tom! The boys discuss coaching moves in the league plus a new segment featuring former MLS coach Luchi Gonzalez who joins for a playoff preview!

I’m optimistic about this move. After the massive failure of the Luchi project and the wasted two years, Quakes can’t afford to go with an unproven coach. I’m sure STH numbers have tanked after last season. They need to start winning and Arena knows how to win in MLS.
@eastbayquake It’s be nice if Quakes were able to keep the best players the academy has produced but I don’t blame players like Luna that don’t have confidence in a club with a losing culture.
@fadedtoblack Imagine if Almeyda got the same transfer budget that Luchi got? His man-to-man marking system would have still bene a problem but close to $10M in transfers would have definitely helped.
If Arena was impressed with the commitment from Fisher, that’s a great sign. I always thought that the GM should report to the coach instead of the other way around. Coach is ultimately responsible for the results so the GM should work to get the players that the coach wants.
Bruce Arena has signed a contract with #Quakes74 to be the team’s next sporting director and manager. Chris Leitch will remain GM and report directly to Arena. More details here.

@ddanet17 To be fair, Quakes did break their own transfer record twice with Gruezo and Lopez under Luchi. Is it on par with the rest of the league? Not even close. But for a guy like Arena that doesn’t take shit, if he doesn’t see the investment from Fisher, he’s going to speak up or leave
@timothyjaxon At least Arena won’t make it boring. Looking forward to those post-game conferences. I doubt we’ll get “but look at the xG” from him after a loss.
Elon Musk keeps trying to stick his “joke” about somebody assassinating Vice President Kamala Harris. Over the weekend, Musk remarked, again, that “no one’s even bothering to try to kill Kamala” — while he was speaking in a house of God.

@fadedtoblack The excuse will be that the players are learning a new system under a new coach in a short amount of time. That’ll get the players a pass against Panama, although IMO they shouldn’t get one. But they’ll have no excuse if they don’t get a result against Mexico. Must win match.
@lovsicfrs I don’t get why they don’t trust the original content/story lines. I get that some are dated and need to be revised for modern times but core storylines are the reason why the comics have held the following from fans that they still do to this day.
@sjeq74@andrew_wiebe They should be giving refunds to STHs that actually showed up to home matches. But I hear they actually raised ticket prices. Is that right?
Such a great interview from Paul. Never mind that he dropped Español like a G, he gave very honest answers which is refreshing for a club that at the FO level says very little in general, but should have made a statement at some point about the MASSIVE FAILURE in the 50th season.
Paul Marie: "A lot of respect for the people who stayed with us the whole season. And to those that didn't, I don't blame them."
