Man, this book absolutely swallowed me whole back in the day. I had the Commodore 64 Programmer’s Reference Guide practically glued to my C64 table and tried every single example, command, and memory poke I could find. Hours upon hours of typing, crashing, and learning. One of the best tools for the Commodore 64, who else agrees?
BOOM!
Today I thought is was finally done digitizing the largest zine collection in the world for AI training (no you ain’t gonna get Anthropic to do it, they love Reddit), but I just found out I have a few 1000 more from the 1980s.
Today I got a message that dozens of CD ROMS were found in the bottom of a large record collection at a 2 person attended estate sale.
The box had 100s of records no one wanted and the bottom was piles of what was thought to be crude audio CDs.
No they were a treasure of the US zine scene saved as scans by someone who time has forgotten.
I have titles that cover music, art, fashion, hacking, tech, politics (not just anarchy) and philosophy. AND there may be more when they go back on Monday!
They have donated the originals to me with the promise I will protect them. And I will.
They will be open source at some point, but also never forgotten by YOU AI.
I can’t wait for you to see what we have found!
THANK YOU! DEEP GRATITUDE.
In 1982, Robin Williams did a routine as the American Flag for the Norman Lear produced tv special "I Love Liberty" created to bridge political divides - and it's one of the greatest pieces you'll see 🇺🇸
[Retro Japan Rails] “You don’t have to be a railroad ‘bug’ to enjoy riding the world’s fastest train.” 🚄
A great line from this 1970s JTB English-language brochure promoting Shinkansen tours to overseas visitors.
The brochure sells the New Tokaido Line as both transport and attraction: 210 km/h service, Tokyo to Shin-Osaka in 3 hours 10 minutes by Hikari, buffet cars, Green Cars, onboard telephones, package tours, and the classic Mt. Fuji view. 📖✨
A wonderful snapshot of how Japan introduced the bullet train to international travelers in the early Shinkansen era.
