What is a level playing field for figure skating? Why do we care about some advantages in sports but not others?

I don't have much to say except that my heart goes out to gabi papadakis, the survivor who bravely spoke up about nikolaj sorensen, and everyone else whose abuse has been ignored by the very authorities meant to protect them in this sport
What strikes me most is the Gabi could have very easily waltzed her way to a 2nd OGM if she just did everything Gui and IAM told her and ignored the culture of abuse. But she didn’t. She valued her own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others more. She left and she spoke out.
Posting the petition for an English translation of Gabriella Papadakis’s memoir again. We need to show that there is enough interest in it so a publishing house picks it up. She deserves to have her story told, especially with Cizeron on a victory lap.

Honestly hilarious that the IJS system was supposed to make this sort of corruption more difficult and yet 24 years after the salt lake games, here we are!!!
Episode 61: Erica Rand’s new book is ‘Skating Away from the Binary’. It looks at our struggle to be allowed to compete as a gender-nonconforming pair team, and examines issues around gender binaries, sports, and politics in a very accessible way.

This is in no way shade against Adam Hagara and Evan Bates, who won uncontested elections, or Deanna Stellato and Wenjing Sui, who are running for the pairs rep. But we need to understand what the commission is, and what it is not.
The way the media reports on stories of abuse in sport matters. Check out @EBU_HQ’s new guide on trauma-informed & ethical reporting, “Beyond the Story,” with contributions from @jujuca1987.

Injury prevention is a lifestyle. An athlete shouldn't wait until something starts hurting to act. Proactively learning about physical strengths and weaknesses and working on any musculoskeletal imbalances are key. Must pay attention if your body is telling you something.
“Injury prevention is a lifestyle” : Dr Ami Parekh @AmiParekh1 shares lessons learned as an elite skater and physical rehabilitation doctor. More in episode 60: https://t.co/Sj72XtD2sP
I wrote about how the conversation with Ami Parekh continues themes from several earlier episodes, including Asian representation, training for longevity, and the need for both more figure skating-specific research and more learning from other sports.
