@kevinservi22498@RussoHockey Showing up to a development camp isn't "in the system" though. He was never under contract and the Wild never owned his rights. Lots of players, especially goalies, were brought in for those just as warm bodies so they had enough guys to practice.
@kevinservi22498@RussoHockey No he wasn't. He went undrafted and signed out of college in 2022 with Boston. He then signed with Florida last summer and was claimed off waivers by Carolina in October. He's never played for a Minnesota based or Wild affiliated team.
@Dad30655174@RussoHockey@JoeSmithNHL@nytimes There's no restrictions. The league probably wouldn't love a trade announced the day of a SCF game, but there's nothing stopping a trade from happening any time.
@DjGranquist@RussoHockey@BR_OpenIce It was in the offseason checklist article posted yesterday which is why BR picked it up. Pretty sure he said it a while ago too though.
@AGMSports@Gianni2225@RussoHockey I'm saying the game 3 and 4 dates are fixed, but games 1 and 2 could have moved back. Check the Ball Arena schedule. This series could have easily been Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday then game 3 on Saturday.
@AGMSports@Gianni2225@RussoHockey The point is that they could have pushed the start of the series back to minimize off days between games 2 and 3. Instead they are doing a quick turnaround to play tomorrow just to hurry up and wait during most of the week.
@cassie_anne_xo@RussoHockey Just bringing up guys now that Iowa is done to keep them fresh in the event that we need more bodies down the line. Black Aces usually practice separately from the main group though.

@hammbonie@RussoHockey@JoeSmithNHL@nytimes ELC length is based on age as of September 15th the year the contract is signed. Ages 18-21 get a 3 year deal, 22-23 get a 2 year deal, and 24 gets a 1 year deal.
@MNHockeyFan336@B_Marsh92@BrandonMileski CapWages doesn't properly prorate the contracts of players added at the deadline. PuckPedia has it correct. With $1,237,954 in projected cap space, that means $33,955,063 in contracts could be added to the roster and still leave us cap compliant at the end of the season.
@ezmnydrippa@RussoHockey You can only play in the playoffs for the team who held your rights as of the trade deadline and he was officially a free agent until this morning.
@Slate_of_Hockey@JackABurns@RussoHockey Literally is. Please show me 1 example of a college free agent signing an NHL contract and playing in the playoffs that same season. I'll wait.
@JakeSeverson1@paca0502@Slate_of_Hockey@JackABurns@RussoHockey The Athletic. The rule is that a player must be on a team's reserve list as of the trade deadline. That means players under contract and drafted prospects whose rights the team owns. Since Viking was not on the Wild's reserve list as of the deadline, he's not playoff eligible.
