@MissHabberfield Hey Miss Habberfield. Great work. Springboards allows lots of airtime for shape development over the bar. Maybe change those springboards so they are less parallel to the bar. Point then to the opposite back corner. DM me if you need anything. Best FN. Fuzz.

Back yourself.
Work hard.
Push when you’re close to your capacity.
Trust in yourself.
Go the long way round.

Here is picture of a training fan and high jump bed an Indian high jumper I’m helping through @jameshillier78 The athlete built this in his back garden during lockdown. Where there is a will, there is always a way. #highjump
I think that this is a useful drill for comp preparation.
Full run up with cone step over on the penultimate stride.
Here Will Grimsey uses a good heel recover into his penultimate which help the inside knee come through with lots of energy.

@john_davie That’s why it’s there my friend.
Start on the ground with tennis balls.
Move onto sand with footballs.
Then high jump beds with med balls.
20-30 seconds max.
Take your time before graduating athletes through to the next stage.
Have fun.
3 med balls, an unwrapped high jump bed, 30 seconds on the clock = serious amounts of fun.
The athletes loved this part of their session.
Being non specific can be a joy for athletes.

Sir Eddie Kulukundis gently passed away at home on 17th of February.
He did so much for athletes and coaches from the 1960's all the way through till the early 2000's.
He was kind and generous, with a mischievous sense of humour.
I loved him like a father.
RIP Eddie. x
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan.
A private funeral will be held, followed by a memorial service at a place and date to be announced when such gatherings may safely take place again.
Looking forward to reading this and learning from Dr Paul Gamble; he has a scientist’s mind, and an artist’s heart. I’m sure this will be a great read.
Emily Borthwick enjoying and embracing the second part of the 5P’s. Plan, Process, Permission, Perform to your Potential. I’m sure she will soon execute the final three points in the weeks and months to come.
@InformedinSport This is one of the best books/tools any aspiring coach could have in their armoury. Written by the most underestimated coach educator I’ve met in my professional life. It is written extremely well, accessible to all, and has gems for coaches at every level.
Greater humility is warranted when we consider where true expertise resides and where the meaningful insights that move things forward come from.
Spoiler: academic research rarely drives cutting edge practice.
Empirical study is not restricted to the research setting
