On this beautiful #ScorseseSunday, I wonder what Marty would think of the recent tectonic changes in Hollywood. On the one hand, Marty’s worked with Netflix in the past so as to get his movie made. On the other hand, no one believes in the theater experience more than Scorsese.
Sorkin is especially good at giving interviewees room to breathe - really getting inside their thinking. Here's Newsom with arguably the most chilling two minutes, ending with a direct callout to a room full of wealth, power and influence on the markets and nation.
Michael Douglas on what he would want the younger people to take away from 'Falling Down' (1993):
"Interviewer: What would you want people to get out of the film today, especially younger people?
Michael Douglas: That’s a really good question. Hopefully, they just enjoy the fact of a well-made picture, just enjoy what a really good script looks like. As far as a social message, I think it’s just about getting along. Sort of an answer to the polarization that’s going on now. And I would say that William represents more of the far right side, and a lack of an ability to accept or understand minorities’ positions. And just accept the fact that America is going to be brown in our future. The shade is going to be closer to brown than white."

In arguably the BEST HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT of the 1980s, Larry Holmes and the criminally underrated Tim Witherspoon duke it out in The Ring Magazine Round of the Year (9).
