What I love about this is that they also wouldn't like the full story. In fact, they would hate it worse: hearing the full breakdown of how you became convinced over the course of a date that you and this guy were fish vs. fowl, could never work, shouldn't even try, regardless of there (maybe?) also existing other things that felt negotiable or 'okay, perhaps given other things' (e.g., mutual physical attraction in principle).

Shorthanding this to 'You like TV show that I don't like' is socially merciful. It's possible for a guy to walk away from that pretty unwounded, and thinking 'no accounting for taste.' Which may actually BE the message you want to deliver: not 'OMG my flesh literally creeps at the idea of being chained to you in a relationship' (even though that's true).

The problem is that the laws written to ban abortion don't always distinguish between the abortion you oppose and the medical care you might one day need. By the time they do, it can already be too late.

my wife's ex texted her out of nowhere saying: we need to talk, it's serious. she ignored it. then he called, panicking. saying he was in trouble that he didn't know who else to call and that he needed to see her.

she put him on speaker immediately. now listen... most men would've lost their minds right there but i said, if there's even a 1% chance it's real, we'll handle it like adults cos i'm not afraid of the truth so we drove to his apartment. he opened the door fully dressed, cologne on, looking like he had been waiting all day.

there was no panic and no emergency. he just put up a smile abd said: i knew you'd come.

i stood there quietly while my wife asked, what exactly happened? he looked down for a sec, then smirked and said, nothing... i just wanted to know if you still cared.

i have never seen a grown woman look so disappointed, not angry just disappointed cos there's nothing attractive about manufacturing a crisis just to get someone's attention. we left without arguing and that night i learned something: a secure marriage doesn't fear tests but immature people will create them anyway.

My abortion is the kind people love to judge the most. I wasn’t underage, I wasn’t assaulted, and there was no medical emergency. I got pregnant because I knowingly had unprotected sex, no accident, no rare failure, just my own choices.

By their standards, it was “irresponsible.” I knew abortion was an option, and I took it. Not because I couldn’t survive it or raise a child, I simply didn’t want one. I wanted sex without becoming a parent, and I chose not to carry the pregnancy.

There’s no redemption arc here. I don’t regret it. Nothing terrible happened to me afterward, no punishment, no downfall. My life is still good. And that reality alone challenges everything people like to assume about women who make this choice.

Sometimes male anger at ‘women getting special treatment’ reminds me of a gorilla experiment. One gorilla gets a banana every hour. The females next to him get one every four hours. Then someone decides to be fairer and gives the females a banana every two hours instead. The original gorilla? He flips out.
