Here’s the thing. For every general category person who didn’t make it in an entrance exam, remember there was someone from the same category who did better than you.

The problem is not reservation. The problem, as I have stated many times before, is the artificial scarcity that has been created by NOT establishing enough excellent universities, medical colleges and other educational institutions. It was always ridiculous to me that as a 17 year old I had to move to Delhi to get a world-class college education. Why? Why wasn’t there a great university in the tier-two city my family lived in? Why do children from northeast have to study in Delhi or Mumbai to become doctors? Why aren’t there more medical universities which can accommodate the ambitions of all children who want to become doctors?

Why aren’t there more world-class science and engineering universities that can give any western university a run for their money?

You’re asking the wrong questions because you’re being made to. The Indian state has enough money to build a very costly statue and thousands of billboards. Are you telling me it can’t expand the educational sector in such a manner that Indian students don’t have to pay lakhs to go to Ukraine and Russia and Georgia to become doctors?
