Geography is…URGENT 🌊🌱
The Fi Wi Road Fair closes with a workshop and talk from our own 2024 Internship cohort. Bilan, Sheldon, Mia, Anaya, and Arianna will share how the essential discipline of Geography helps us make sense of an increasingly complex world.
Geography is…VIOLENT🗺️💰
Through an interactive workshop explore the origins of Geography as a discipline. Following a timeline from the 15th to 19th Century, the workshop will work through this history of exploration, colonial mapping, scientific racism and more.
Join us in conversation with Anesu, Lucien, and Kwaku to explore this topic next week at the Fi Wi Road Fair!

Geography is…EVERYWHERE 🌎🏴
Black people build lives and communities everywhere, yet we often see disjointed representations of this. This panel explores the collaborative and creative voice of the Black community in Scotland.
So much looking forward to this next edition of the @fwr_internship’s Black Futures Fair, this time in Glasgow, Scotland on Monday, Sept 16th. Excited for these panels and workshops conceived + organized by Black heritage undergrad geographers! Come thru in person or online! 🖤
We can’t wait to welcome our three panel speakers as they explore how different spaces and locations become sites of defiance and empowerment.

Geography is…RESISTANT! ✊🏾🔥
In the context of Black resistant, we recognise how power dynamics embedded into cities, neighbourhoods and spatial arrangements influence various forms of activism and protest against systemic injustices.
Join the #FiWiRoadInterns, @BSG_Geomorph and Dr. Zoe Todd from @SFU on 23rd August 3-4 PM (BST) for a discussion around the importance and application of indigenous knowledge systems, in addressing the risks to our physical world. DM for registration link!
