@SofieClaerhout @NedForInst Thanks Sofie! I-Familia includes the possibility to include Y-STR and mtDNA data. This will be helpful for INTERPOL to further reject or confirm a potential biological association and report it to both country.

@DebbieKennett And whereas I completely agree that finding and identifying a missing person is a humanitarian act, the fact that the identification process relies mostly on police data, INTERPOL is well equipped to achieve this task while ensuring data privacy and confidentiality.

@DebbieKennett Very interesting comments. I-Familia was developed because most of the DNA profiles from missing persons, their relatives or unidentified human remains are mostly considered as "police data" as national police forces lead the investigations.

@DebbieKennett Therefore, a country that has police data is more entitled to share this data only with other police forces or international police organisation such as INTERPOL. Especially because DNA profiles from relatives is a very sensitive type of data (not linked to any criminal activity)
