@CD5LosAngeles when we met with you a month ago, you told us you thought a policy on downgrading sweeps to spot cleans in excessive heat was important and urgent. Why is your office continuing to schedule sweeps during an excessive heat advisory?
It is absolutely nonsensical that the city itself has issued a heat advisory warning and is setting up cooling stations to combat the heat, and at the same time is destroying unhoused residents’ shelter and removing bathrooms and handwashing stations from Cotner.
Please Act Now to contact County Supervisor Hilda Solis & demand a stop to the El Monte Rio Hondo bike path Sweep 9/6!

This could displace up to 100 people!!! There's no credible offers of housing.
When Adas Torah Synagogue in Pico-Robertson was set to host an event that advertised itself as selling property in Israel — including potentially some in illegal settlements in Palestinian territories — dozens showed up to protest.

Todays major sweep in WLA @CD5LosAngeles has now been described as a traumatic post Grants Pass shtshow without real housing to offer @MayorOfLA@LAHomeless@LindseyPHorvath
It was a pretty big unhoused + vehicle housed community in a mostly industrial area next to the 405 fwy
Karen Bass + her allies are celebrating the City of LA's 2.2% drop in homelessness reported in LAHSA's 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, but here's what they're not telling you 🧵
🚨After 18 months and $341 million, @MayorOfLA's Inside Safe program currently houses just 539 people. Evictions are skyrocketing, and the program's exit rate has surpassed 30%. We surveyed people sheltered in 9 Inside Safe motels to find out what's really going on. Part 1:
LA City Councilmembers Katy Yaraslovsky @CD5LosAngeles and @BobBlumenfield are moving to give city funding to Magen Am, an armed Zionist paramilitary force comprised in large part of Israeli soldiers.

Current and former homelessness officials told LAist the report’s findings underscore that the shortage of shelter and housing is driving the homelessness crisis, and unless that’s dealt with, encampments will keep coming back.

The @MayorOfLA's Inside Safe is no different than inhumane Garcetti-era programs.
Coercion and carceral conditions will always result in failed policy. @KarenBassLA continues to lie about providing services and housing, which is why so many people are exiting her program.
Oh ok @MayorOfLA if Inside Safe is optional why is there a Sweep in @CD5LosAngeles ~1 week after the operation, in addition to this fence? Wonder how $ much is spent on this giant waste of city resources solely dedicated to displacing people
Meanwhile an Inside Safe operation took place yesterday where folks waited for 4+ hours during a city wide “freeze warning” (37° at the start). As @MayorOfLA refuses to call these sweeps CARE+ extreme weather protocol wasn’t put into place.
Working on a story about unhoused folks in LA county dealing with cold temperatures. If you know any mutual aid groups doing outreach to help out or any unhoused folks that may be willing to speak with me, please let me know!
According to testimonies from Gaza, some people died from hunger while others died from the cold as Israel continues to ban food and humanitarian aid from entry and over 90% of the population in Gaza became homeless. #GazaVoice
