cognitively in all these different ways, and i think this is incontestable. the natural follow up to the question is, of course, the legitimacy of reading texts that are not challenging, or technically accomplished (after all, there are stories easy to read but hard to grasp)
what published books and what fanfics? i think this question is very broad. there are plenty of poorly written published books, and there are some well written fics. the real question people seem to be asking is whether reading complex texts is different from reading simpler ones
it was gross enough to learn that the black writers were let go in general but it’s even grosser to find out from a zell williams’ most recent substack post that they were let go by being ghosted, not even giving them decency to know they’re out of a job
