Hello from the FXON Analyst Team 🍑
Here’s today’s main story 👇
――――――――――
【🇯🇵 Is the BOJ Minutes starting to shift the one-way yen-selling narrative?】
――――――――――
The minutes from the Bank of Japan’s January meeting, released on the 25th, showed that policymakers broadly shared the view that if the outlook plays out as expected, policy rates should continue to be raised 🇯🇵
At the March 19 meeting, the BOJ also kept the uncollateralized overnight call rate at around 0.75%, while reaffirming its stance that further rate hikes remain on the table if projections are realized.
Here are the key takeaways 👇
1️⃣ The BOJ is not pre-committing to a fixed pace of hikes, but its tightening bias remains intact
2️⃣ Some members argued that the next rate hike should not be delayed, with one view suggesting that raising rates once every few months could be appropriate
3️⃣ Some members also noted that the recent yen weakness and rise in long-term yields partly reflect fundamentals, including higher inflation expectations 👀
USDJPY is currently trading near 159. From here, it may no longer be just about whether the US dollar stays strong — another major question is how far the BOJ is willing to tolerate further yen weakness ⚠️
――――――――――
Keep an eye on whether caution starts creeping back into what has been a one-way yen-selling market.

Hello from the FXON Analyst Team 🍑
USDJPY / XAUUSD / Crude Oil are the key markets in focus today👇
――――――――――――――――――
🇺🇸 Is USD strength losing momentum? Rising oil is turning central banks more hawkish
――――――――――――――――――
Yesterday was all about the FOMC, but what’s really driving today’s market is this shift:
higher oil → renewed inflation concerns → more hawkish central banks 🔥
This is no longer the kind of market where simply buying the dollar is enough.
Right now, JPY, EUR, and GBP are also seeing room for rebounds, making price action much trickier.
Gold, meanwhile, is no longer moving on geopolitical risk alone.
It remains highly sensitive to higher-for-longer rate expectations and overall USD flows, which is keeping the outlook choppy ⚠️
――――――――――――――――――
Next week, the key won’t just be reviewing what happened after the FOMC.
The bigger focus will likely be oil prices and how differently each central bank responds.
That’s all from the FXON Analyst Team 🍑
Today the USDJPY has seen buybacks following a sharp decline, with the Tokyo market closed and optimism around stability in the Strait of Hormuz providing some support.

Hello from the FXON Analyst Team 🍑
Here’s today’s main focus 👇
――――――――――――――――――
【🇺🇸Today’s key focus is not just whether the FOMC holds — but what comes next】
――――――――――――――――――
The market is widely expecting the Fed to leave rates unchanged at this FOMC meeting.
But what really matters is not just whether they hold today — it’s how they signal the path ahead 👀
With rising concerns over Middle East tensions and higher energy prices, expectations for rate cuts later this year have been pushed back significantly.
If the statement, dot plot, or Powell’s press conference sounds more hawkish than expected, it could easily support further USD buying ⚡️
Here’s what traders are watching 👇
① How much more hawkish the dot plot may turn
② How Powell assesses higher energy prices and Middle East risks
③ Whether the dollar can stay firm against the yen even if rates are left unchanged
――――――――――――――――――
Even without a major surprise, markets can still move sharply depending on how the Fed frames the outlook.
So this time, pay close attention not just to the decision itself, but to the tone and nuance behind it ⚠️
