He doesn’t know my political stance, yet anything not 100% aligned with his “team” gets attacked, even a technical observation on tanker transits.

Behind this harmless reflex sits a dangerous, cult-like mechanism. It erodes political accountability, slowly at first, then all at once.

Both ends of the spectrum foster it. Same coin, different sides. Their guy, their girl, both get a free pass (must be protected), while everything else gets attacked. Tribal reflex replaces analysis. The self-correcting mechanism of a democracy weakens.

In Somalia, this logic is formalized. A patrilineal kinship system organizes society into clans that provide security, justice, and redistribution. It was a rational survival structure in a hostile, pre-industrial environment.

Transplanted into a modern welfare state, it mutates. Kinship networks can override institutions and the rule of law. The result is predictable, access over merit, loyalty over legality. Minnesota’s large-scale fraud cases are one example of how this can scale.

Whether ideological tribes or kinship tribes, the mob in Naples or the Kremlin, the mechanism is always the same.

MAGA, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or Zohran Mamdani style politics, different branding, same underlying dynamic.

Viktor Orbán in Hungary. The Greens in Germany. Opposite ends of the spectrum, same instincts. Power first, accountability later, if ever. Corruption concentrates at the top and leaks downward.

History isn’t subtle about outcomes. Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, the regime in Iran, all followed the father of the playbook, Joseph Goebbels from 1933: define the enemy, delegitimize dissent, control media channels, consolidate power, remove constraints. Different inputs, same output.

Push any system far enough away from individual accountability toward tribe, ideology, kin, or hyper-feminism (wokeism) and institutions hollow out. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Voters get what they tolerate.
