this is one of my few (and biggest complaints) of the books. mentioning shane biracial never once talking about how it effected him. shane being half asian is a big reason he felt a need to be perfect and why it took a while to accept being gay.

i’ve mentioned it before, but i love that the show delves more into shane being a biracial asian. his ethnicity explains his own anxieties and coming out, the pressure & expectations he feels. it’s something a lot of biracial and full asians can relate to
