@Thorin Dude theres a difference with making the movie slightly different from the book because its a film VERSUS makin Odysseus the opposite of who he actually was. Odysseus was not a war torn afghan vet with PTSD with guilt and shame. Even Woke Emily Wilson said this was not Odysseus
